first of all boot off the original cd that came with the puter. second, run 
disk fix diagnostics and fixes, third, while your there, try a zero format 
installation of the original os from the original os disc. You'll zap your 
hard drive but unless you want to go to the pro's and spend big bucks, it's 
the way to go in my opinion.

If you can't boot from the original cd, then you've got a rom prob. and need 
to go to apple service or get a new logic board.
