I have a G4/400 Graphite in a setting that will NEVER utilize the built-in
DVD drive that it came with. I have another, older, G3/266 Rev. A Beige MT
with it's original CD-ROM still intact.
My question is:
Can I swap these two drives without any issues on either machine? I thought
I'd remembered reading something stating that the original G3 needed the
original CD-ROM to be able to boot from CD's? Does that mean I will not be
able to boot from the DVD if swapped? Are the connections the same to even
be able to do the swap? The two machines are at different locations and as
such, don't have the machines side by side to be able to compare the
connectors.
TIA!
Peace.
