Hurumph :) :), my Quadra 700 20/500 clock chipped to 33 MHz (the very very
first Quadra) was very happy with a cable modem hooked up to it (it took
longer to draw a complex page than to download it ;) when I first got cable
modem two years ago (when there weren't a whole lot of people on that
network & I was still getting 400 K/sec :) :) :)... by the time I left @Home
in Sept 2000 it was down to 200 K/Sec :( :( :( I love my new T3... the
department's 10BaseT hub is the limiting factor in my web nowadays & my mail
ALWAYS gets delivered to my university account.

Wow, @Home must be a completely different network in your area. My main addy
is no longer @home but I still have an @home account (through a friend who
is now the "owner" of my e-mail addy). Their e-mail server SUCKS. I still
have lots of headaches trying to pick up my mail from them & often find that
the lists I'm on on that account unsubscribe me (or that mail addressed to
me there simply gets lost in the ether). Surprisingly hotmail doesn't cause
me these headaches (and mail.yahoo.com is even more reliable (I can count
the lifetime downtime on my yahoo accounts in minutes rather than the MONTHS
I didn't have access to my @home e-mail address (one for which I used to pay
$40/mo CDN vs. $0.00 for my http://mail.yahoo.com account).

Anyway, please excuse the I hate @Home e-mail and love to bash them for it
tirade.

Eric.
