Hi Kyle,
In the first few months of 2000 I was planning on buying a bigger HD to replace the
stock 6 gig . After some research I found out that there were probs with a bigger
master HD in a Rev1, but I thought WTH and bought a 30 gig Maxtor in May 2000 and
tried it as master and it worked fine, no probs. Adding the stock 6 gig was a nogo. So
I then put the 6 gig as master (like what you always do too) and the Maxtor as slave.
Works fine w/o data corruption. I'm using this config for one and a half year now. The
only problem which occurs from time to time is that the slave Maxtor will not mount at
startup and requires a restart. But I can live with that. Allthough most Maxtor drives
seem to have no probs when added as a slave, however some other brands do seem to have
probs when added as a slave, and even when used as the master drive only. One of those
drives was the IBM Deskstar 22 gig.
