I don't know but I *suspect* that it would apply to any G4 ZIF. An easy way to test would be to get the G4/500 you want and try it (since these mail-order co's often have money back policies). > Note: OWC is now selling G4/400 and G4/500 Zifs made by Motorola, saying > that they don't need any firmware patch. XLR8 has the patch, I don't know what Sonnet does to bypass the block (since they claim G3 B&W compatibility). > I am thinking of selling my G4/400 Zif upgrade (Metabox) currently installed > in my Yosemite Rev.1 - I got an offer for it and an XLR8 Carrier card from > someone interested in upgrading his 8600; the money would cover the cost of > OWC's Motorola G4/500 Zif. So what is the Metabox card? Is that the ZIF your G4/400 in your B&W is on? Or is it something else? Yep, our B&Ws are unique in not being *allowed* to run a processor that they can (Apple @Q#$)(*&@)(*$&(@#$&). BTW You could always pop in a G3/500 into the B&W. That processor's plenty fast and should make most people happy (plus, it's cheaper than a G4/500 by 50%). Eric. -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
