OWC assures me this ram chip IS low profile and WILL work in all Beige
desktop G3 cpu, even though apple specs say max ram is 192 MB. Each ram slot
will recognize up to 256K of THIS kind of ram. I sent for 3 sets for a total
with shipping of $113 US shipped within the US. I'll remove the 256k chip I
got from McMall that only registers 128k, and the (2) 32k chips in the
remaining 2 slots, and replace with (1) 256k ram chip in each of the three
now empty slots for a total of 768k ram recognized by the cpu which is using
the original ROM version A (Rev A sometimes called Rev 1).
This should change the previous recognized ram from 192 MB to the true
maximum ram the machine is capable of which is 768MB. No other changes or
software needed. Chips are supposed to arrive Wednesday so I'll let you know
then if they actually work. I expect they will :)
