I believe someone else created Garamond, but named it in honor of Claude.

There are many Garamonds, and the definitive one is probably that which was 
produced by American Type Founders many, many years ago ... certainly more 
than a hundred ... as so-called "foundry type".

Foundry type is optically scaled.

To date, no electronic form of Garamond has been made using optical scaling, 
although Adobe is capable of doing so using its MM format.

Extra point questions: 1) for what purpose was Times Roman created, 2) who 
was its first user, and 3) who created it?
