I had a huge amount of pain getting the system to boot correctly when I installed the larger drive originally. The system simply would not accept it as the boot drive unless the original drive was present. It still will not boot into 9 but does just fine for OS X. The rest was laziness having grown weary of the backup process necessary before booting with the card installed.
BTW, the thing about it seeing the drives as ATA is from Sonnet's website. I haven't booted into OS X with it yet.
