You were just "suspicious"? :) MS started blocking/causing problems with
alternate browsers just before activeX was released... Years ago.

If anything, ActiveX was the real technology that was supposed to turn the
internet into an MS selling point (kind of like flash... If you dont
download flash, there are a lot of sites you can't view now)... It got a lot
of press and such, but for one reason or another activeX never really became
what MS wanted it to. That is changing now that MS has so, so much market
share. ie, recently there was a big hullaballoo over quicktime not working
in IE- it does, you just have to reference it with activeX, or use embed and
activex calls... Most designers/etc will go the easy route and just use
activeX, momentum begets momentum, etc...

So, off and on for the last 4-5 years MS either locks out some browsers or
has a hand in big sites that lock them out- then they back pedal... If
anything I think it is just a way to gauge reaction, as each time the
backlash is less and less.

I use a mac.com email addy for mailing lists- you have to realize you're
talking about two completely differen't services. A more balanced
comparision would be mac.com vs. softhome.net.

It's very cool that apple gives it away- but mac.com is getting kind of
notorious for services outages, mail delays, attachments/messages being
blocked or returned, etc. :( I wouldn't make it your primary account if you
have stuff that =has= to get out.
