<chuckle> As much as I hate M$ business practices and their lack-luster
fault testing I still love their software (plus the price for the web stuff,
$0). Life without M$ Excel 98 (they "fixed" Command-I to be italicise
(instead of cmd-shft-i <grumble>) and I haven't been able to find what the
keyboard shortcut is for insert row/column) and Word 2001 would be
frustrating beyond belief.

I'm not actually that fond of Eudora Pro 5.1 -- its interface is too
cluttered for my tastes and not as refined as OE 5.02's (plus, I like the
way OE does multiple e-mail accounts (I have 7 "accounts", 3 of which check
two different e-mail addresses each)).

As for Opera... bah, humbug. Windows amateurs trying to make it on the Mac
:) :) :)!!! OmniCab or iCab. Now there are *real* (and Mac-only) web
browsers. OmniCab isn't quite as smooth for some things as IE 5.1 but it
renders pages BEAUTIFULLY (they *look* good) and is infinitely more stable
than Opera (& I really don't like the way Opera renders pages yet... though,
I really hope they get a stable build out soon so I can actually try it out
rather than have it crash on me every second page). iCab has the unique
distinction of being Apple scriptable, compatible with both OS X and 9 & is
a fairly robust browser to boot (plus it can filter ads).

But, each time I have to do heavy-duty browsing I always seem to return to
IE 5.1 -- it's the most stable, renders most pages in the most usable manner
and offers the ability to move pages like a graphics programme when you hold
down the command key and click-drag the page. Netscape 6.1 for OS X is
virtually unusable so it's not an option :( :( :(.

I'd love to get rid of M$ on my machine but there are no Mac alternatives to
the internet apps which perform *as well* as the M$ apps (especially under
OS X).

L8r, Eric.
