> How do I rebuild the desktop? Reboot, and after you see the happy mac and the extensions are loading (but before you get to the desktop) hold down apple and option key. When the finder comes up it will ask if you want to rebuild your desktop.
I actually love a little utility called "trash desktop" which you can find at www.versiontracker.com which will move your desktop files to the trash, and when you reboot the mac will rebuild them. It's safer than a normal rebuild, as any corruption is gone when the new one is built. > and where can I get diskwarrior <http://www.alsoft.com/> Awesome program, fixes things norton and others can't/wont... although I'm currently pulling my hair out with their tech support who is telling me that the record for using it on a drive with a lot of "overlapping files" is having to let it run for 145 hours... > and DFA? > (what's that?) Took me a second too. :) I believe he's referring to "disk first aid" which is in yoru utilities folder and on your system CD. Before you shell out the cash for diskwarrior, you may be able to get by with: A) reboot from your ssystem CD and run disk first aid which is in your utilities folder ont he CD. B) Then rebuild the desktop, using one of the ways above. -- Michael Bryan Bell http://homepage.mac.com/michael_bell/ -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
