Lol, not that much I suppose, except for a few things:

A) PC games are usually designed with higher resolutions and graphics than a
console game- take for example, resident evil. It's horrible on a PC, but
looks great on a TV. The engine just doesn't scale,

B) and a lot of people don't want to buy an extra controller for their PC...
A game with a good interface is designed around the controller- taking to a
mouse and keyboard doesn't work well. You can "tell" when a game is a
console port. :(

C) See above, about how the console games are designed around the
controller- pc games let you have a lot more depth. Yes, you can buy a
keyboard and mouse for a PS2, but game companies can't develop for that-
they have to make it work great with what 90% of the people who own a PS2
will have.

Yep, you can just plug them in already... I think there was a hook out to do
it for dreamcast also? Because while they said they were able to get the
engine up and running well on the dreamcast/ps2, it just wasn't fun to play
without a mouse and keyboard- if you were using the controller against
someone who had the mouse/keyboard, you'd get schooled.

Take a look at "spider man" or "resident evil" or even "evil dead" "metal
gear solid" (to name a few). The PC can almost always handle the graphics,
the problem is that the console engines are very optimized for 640x480,
whereas on a pc you have to be able to develop all the way to 1280x1024+,
your game has to be able to scale. You can definetly tell it is a console
port. :(

Well, there's actually been a lot of talk lately about "the death of pc
gaming" compared to the consoles... A lot of game development houses are
jumping ship- developing for a console is just so, so nice compared to the
PC world. Obviously it's somewhat exaggerated, but it's definetly
happening... They both really have their place.

Now, if I could just figure out why I did so well with grand tourismo2 but I
swear to god I can't stop crashing in v3... :) any tips?
