Lotsa great points, I certainly identify with. Particularly:

At work, side-by-side I have a G4 533Mhz running 9.2.1 and a PIII
800MHz running Win2000 Professional. I use the G4 to do _all_ my
work, the PC exists simply to troubleshoot user problems with NT4
server. Why? because I like the look and feel of the Mac. Win2000
is no slouch, but it just doesn't feel the same...

Which is the reason I don't like a lot of the newer apps (either on
Mac or PC). All these added conveniences which end up trying to
organise the user ends up making 'Johnny User' harder to deal with at
the end of the day! Makes them very lazy... and far too dependent on
the machine and software rather than themselves. To the point where
a crash sends them into such a tizz they don't even begin to
rationally think about how to recover from it.

This is the prize. I work as an IT Professional, and not a day goes
by that I think it would all be a lot easier if we didn't have to
deal with IT. Don't get me wrong though, I still enjoy working with
Technology, but not when the company wants to rely totally on it and
not have the necessary precautions available to cope when failures
occur.
