I'm not sure how to help this person but one thing I did notice is that once you upgrade your OS, it seems like you can no longer install from your original CD. I was having trouble with my ixMicro Ultimate Rez card and I wanted to install the Apple ixMicro extensions that you can get by doing a custom install. But once I upgraded to OS 9.2.1, the Mac OS 9.1 installer would not let me install anything onto my Mac OS 9.2.1. So I ended up reinstalling it. But someone once mentioned that if you have the ixMicro card that it automatically installs the extension but it did not do this in my G3 Desktop. I had to manually do a custom install. On the other hand, I was having trouble with my USB scanner, using 9.2.l but on that same reinstall, everything works now, ixMicro card and my USB scanner. So OS 9.2.1 is working pretty good now. So I don't know if this actually relates because I'm not really sure of his problem, as I didn't read the original e-mail. But a clean reinstall can cure many ills. I've gotten so use to doing them.
