MacFixIt has the article below on their main page, looks like it only affects OS X, only erases non-boot partitions, and the OS X version of iTunes HAS been taken off of Apple's site.
You had me scared there for a minute, I just installed iTunes 2 on my iMac running 9.04 about 2 hours ago... so far it's working great! 16 kbps network streams over a 28.8 modem actually sound GOOD! I think the bug was introduced by extremist Audion fans, (though Audion still is way cooler than iTunes) or by Microsoft, jealous that the iPod is Mac-Only. MacFixIt article follows: iTunes 2 released: data loss possible in Mac OS X; X installer pulled Apple has released iTunes 2. Several readers report that the Mac OS X version of the installer completely erased their non-boot partitions. We are investigating. See these threads on MacFixIt Forums and Apple Discussions for more. We will post further updates as we receive more information. Update: As of about 2 PM EST Saturday, Apple has pulled the Mac OS X version of the iTunes 2 installer, presumably because of the reported problems. Apple's site now says that the "Mac OS X version is coming soon."
