Thanks everyone for all your suggestions to solve the problem. As a matter of fact I've been looking through all the OSD options and have since Sunday been operating the monitor in sRGB mode as an experiment. This, in my case seems to have pretty much cleared up the problem...I certainly didn't need to do any re-adjusting to the display today or yesterday after altering this setting. :-)
