Hello

Can you provide me with more info on this?

I am now running OS10.1.3 on a stock B&W 350 / 1MB.

I am planning to upgrade to a G4 500 with XLR8

Other than the special firmware updater installation software provided to
convert the B&W G3 to a G4 , why would I need any other "special" software
to continue to run OSX?
