Did I get the wrong card? >> No, you don't have to use the card as a RAID card. In fact, the card only supports RAID *if and only if* you use the supplied SoftRAID product. Also, the 80-wire/40-pin cables (two are supplied with the product, one for each drive in a SoftRAID configuration) are single-headed, and are quite short. Plus, the "Y" cable is unreliable as it is usually made with the wrong pins. Bottom line ... the card is a decent card, perhaps the best UATA/66 card made, but the 2.2.4 firmware update, while it purportedly supports OS X, also breaks some functions which were stable under the 1.1.2 firmware.
