Hello,

The internal HD is ATA, which is also known as IDE. You can replace the
internal HD with basically any ATA (a.k.a. IDE) HD. I replaced mine with a
Western Digital Caviar 100GB 7200rpm 8.9ms average seek time Ultra ATA/66 HD
and it works great.
IBM and Maxtor are good brands, from what I've heard, and my Western Digital
one is working out fine.

Completely unrelated: I think you can put firewire in your G3 easily with a
Firewire PCI card, by the way.

Good luck,

Dan Arnold
