IBM and Maxtor are good brands, from what I've heard, and my Western Digital

Right now, the class acts in UATA drives suitable for Macs are the IBM 60GXP
series and the Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 60 series.

The IBM 120GXP series is probably pretty good, too. In a 60 GB size it has
half as many surfaces as a 60GXP series, and is usually a little less
expensive.

There are still quite a few 60GXP series drives in the distributor channel.

The less said about the IBM 75GXP series, the better.

I've seen prices in the $109 range for 60 GB IBM 60GXPs and in the $99 range
for 60 GB IBM 120GXPs.

I have a pair of 60 GB IBM 60GXPs and a pair of 60 GB Maxtor DiamondMaxPlus
60s in my Macs, and these drives are about as good as any I've seen.
