Be careful about the RAM you put into your Machine
Theoretically with some PC ram here shouldn't be a problem. REALITY is
something else.
Over Christmas I was given ram. We'd thought we had researched it. The vendor
insisted that other Mac users had no problems. Research on the web and further
questioning of people who should have known indicated there would be no
problems.

Ram went in, Photoshop seemed to love it, and matters appeared to go well for
the first few hours until I started to get odd errors. Needless to say I
removed the ram and many problems cleared. QuarkXpress had gotten a taste for
the extra ram and proclaimed its grievance at the loss often . In anycase I
clean installed the system 3 times and many of the programmes 'QuarkXpress of
course more than once, before the problems cleared up, I had not reinstalled th
system it so often since I'd gotten the B&W G3. The most visible result being
the control strip dropped to the bottom of the screen. It hadn't been there for
years.

The ram a no name 128 stick, so much hassle.

The same stick causes no hassle in my brothers beige G3

Be careful
Deirdre
