I've got a Matrox video card in my 266G3 desktop but can't move up to
OSX until I replace it (can't live without my 2048x768 screen). One
suggestion has been to simply duplicate the existing card as I know
it works with X and they are available for reasonable prices.

MacTracker notes that the G3s came with ATI Rage IIc or Rage Pro
cards, 2-6MB video memory.

Apple Profiler lists the following details abut my card
Name: ATY,mach64_3DU
Model: ATY,GT-B
ROM#: 113-XXXXX-1.1
Revision: 154
Vendor ID: 1002
VRAM: 6MB

Anyone know which card I have and whether a duplicate will work in
one of the free PCI slots?
