i got one a couple of weeks ago, actually the first porno spam i've ever gotten. (i usually get the "double your business, take credit cards" or "consolidate your debt" type of spam). i've also gotten more of the usual type of spam lately, and i have been posting lately so it's possible. guess i'll change my return address back to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" or something similar, i've found this effective before though it does occasionally confuse people, at least until their mail to me bounces back to them, of course then everyone who wants to reply to me has to delete the "NOSPAM" part, making them work just because of the darn spam heads. seriously, i've had good luck with spamcop.net, i've also complained directly (there's usually html in the spam so it's easy to do a "whois" on them and find the system admin), i know for a fact that i've helped close down several commercial sites. when i complain i usually mention that diddling with the headers indicates an attempt to defraud.
more bizarre, lately i've been getting bozo spam with html but they haven't set the headers right so it just comes through as text with html tags all over, definitely some major idiots out there. you can thank the direct marketing association for spam, they're the ones that have fought against laws making it a crime to diddle with headers in an attempt to disguise the source, it is illegal in washington state, and there have been punitive laws in congress but the direct marketers have shut them down. personally, i think spammers should be fined just like people who send you unsolicited faxes, but that only became law because it was causing problems for congressmen (restaurants were faxing menus around noon, tying up the fax machine and wasting paper). then again, i think the post office should charge direct mailers more, not less as they're the ones clogging the system with junk that just goes into the landfill. yes, i HATE spam, even though i get very little, if it were any worse i'd pay for filtering. i just wish there was a way to keep netscape from running html in email. it's especially irritating when i'm offline and it makes the modem dial, and locks things up just to load some stupid graphics that people just have to put in their email. grrrrr. now if they're dumb enough to be running a scam involving a real mail address (po box or other) i just report them to the postal inspectors, that gets them some time in federal prison or a large fine and a record if they're lucky.
