Richard.. Thanks. And to the others who have also responded to my posts,
thanks to you as well.

Typing that in did as you said and allowed me to finally clear the trash.
However........ I kept getting other minor problems showing up in dialogs
like : " System Preferences has unexpectedly quit" while changing the
resolution, using SP's displays option. Each time I would click on the icon,
the system would immediately stop and the dialog would come up. Still don't
know what was wrong, but......... I chose to just wipe the Drive (60 GB
Maxtor) and start all over. I used my 10.03 CD to begin by initializing and
partitioning the drive for the first one to be 8 GB ( Rev. A req.). Updated
to 10.04 . Used my 10.1 cd to get to where I could go get installer update
and all the way on up to 10.1.4 updates online. Boy, noy we are really
looking good no errors, everything's runing good , humming right along.

Then ...... I went and ( I know, if it is running good leave it alone. )
downloaded Screensaversosx.dmg 3.o from the Apple site. Installed the and as
soon as I selected the first saver in System Prefs (SP's), to view what it
looked like, I decided to check out another. When I clicked on the second on
and this dialog popped up :
" System Preferences has unexpectedly quit"
I don't know about the kernal , but this general sure panicked.
I went to my User's ScreenSavers (SS) folder and deleted the SS's . Still
dropped out when choosing SS from SP. Went to Preferences folder and deleted
SS prefs. No change. Except now as well as dropping out of SP, whenever It
should be showing a SS on the DT, the entire DT blinks on and off.

Do I need to start all over again ? Or .... Is there another way to fix this
problem ?
