John, there is absolutely no reason why your burner would be recognized in OSX but not in OS9.
I know this has been mentioned, but to get iTunes to recognize your burner, make sure ALL Apple ext. for Firewire and USB are ENABLED. For Toast, you want to disable ONLY USB and Firewire Authoring ext. and no others. Try rebuilding your desktop with TechTool lite as well. Next, you need to find where the "driver" files for the various iTunes/Disk Burner supported recorders are stored. While I do know where they are is OSX, I don't know where they are in OS9 as I've deleted iTunes for OS9 (BTW, why don't you just use iTunes in OSX instead). Check and see if they are all there. Find someone else online that has iTunes for OS9 installed and the two of you compare what's in the folder and have him send you whatever is missing. Use the Software Update cp in both OSX and OS9 to make sure you have everything. You are running OS9.2.2, correct? Keep me informed.
