Howdy,
I just got an Apple G4-350 zif with 1 meg cache to upgrade my Desktop
G3/233. I want to be prepared before I plug in the parts and there are a
few things I have not found yet.

1. The only lowendmac page I found that refers to the jumpers has a broken
link. The page is titled "Clocking the Power Mac G3" and located at:
     http://www.lowendmac.com/ppc/j16.shtml
  It refers to:
    http://www.bekkoame.or.jp/~t-imai/g3ae1.html
Can anyone here point me to another source of the jumper setting
picture? For the record, I see that the lowendmac page has a text
description of the jumpers. I suspect that the picture may provide
addition details, such as the orientation of p1 and the picture would be a
better visual aid while in front of the computer.

2. Is the heatsink that comes from the factory on an Apple Desktop G3/233
adequate to the task of cooling a G4-350? I am guessing that there was a
switch to copper for the G4 and the cooler will be fine. Will the heatsink
for the G3 just come right of or is it likely to be affixed with more than
a clip? I ask rather than just pull the heatsink off because I don't want
to mess up the G3 until I am ready to quickly switch. Otherwise, I'll be
without a Mac for some time. Ok, I have a 7600 with G3/400, but it is only
OS 8.6 and I have been spoiled by OS X.

3. Will OS X recognize the new processor or do I need to have an extension
ready?

4. I bought my machine used, so I don't know what color system disk it
came with. How can I tell if I have rev 1, rev 2 or rev 3 motherboard? I
can tell that I have the better voltage regulator module.

5. 350 does not divide into a bus speed of 66 or 75. So, I figured I'd
try 5 x 75 (or 375) and 5.5 x 66 (or 366) and finally 5 x 66 (or 333) if
needed. Any comments?

Thank you,
Ralph Green, Jr.
