4. I bought my machine used, so I don't know what color system disk it came
with. How can I tell if I have rev 1, rev 2 or rev 3 motherboard? I can
tell that I have the better voltage regulator module.

Most /233s were Rev. A; many /266s were Rev. B or C.

If your video chip is an ATI Rage Pro, then it is definitely a Rev. B or C;
if an ATI Rage II, then it is definitely a Rev. A.

Another sign: if your machine came with an EIDE Zip then it is definitely a
Rev. B or C.

A 1998 manufacturing date (of the machine was new, and not remanufactured)
also means it is most probably a Rev. B or C.

My G3/266 DT was among the last made, and it was a Rev. C.

Cooling will be your biggest problem with a G4 upgrade.

The fan in your DT is rated 45 cubic feet per minute (CFM). There are
replacement fans available which are rated 65 CFM. Installation of a 65 CFM
fan in my DT resulted in the G3 temperature being reduced from 97 to 85
degrees.

Still not as good as my G3/300 MT, which is currently running at 67 degrees,
but then it is just after 6 am here in California, and those DT measurements
were taken in the early afternoon when it is hottest in this room.
