Hi,
I purchased a used 1.2GB HD to replace the original 250MB internal unit in
my 6100AV w/G3 upgrade. I boot from an ext HD w/OS8.6.

After installing the replacement drive, I was able to see it on the desktop
and open but the drive hung as a was looking through the folders (it came
w/MacTech8.6 still on it). I verified the drive was terminated and is
assigned SCSI ID 0. I ran the OEM disk doctor and it hung for a while before
finally saying the disk could not be read. I also tried Norton disk doctor
and that locked up after verifying the B-tree. Finally, I reformatted the
disk and tried again to no avail. Attempting an OS8.6 install from my orig
CD hung after writing a few files.

Anything else I should try to repair the drive or confirm it is defective?

Thanks,

Mike
