Hi guys,

I recently picked up an Acard AHARD ATA 66 pci card (AEC6260M Ultra
66) for my G4 upgraded beige desktop, with the intention of connecting it
to my main hard drive, an IBM 41.1gb hard drive (5400rpm), which is rated
compatible with the card.

I got down to installing it today and haven't been able to get it to work. Now
according to the manual its all plug and play supposedly. I believe my
problem is a master/slave issue, but I can't work out which.

Ok my hard drive is set to master. And so is the cd-rom. Now when I
install the ATA card, I use the cable provided to connect it to the hard drive,
and the cable is connected to the primary ide port on the card. I leave the
cd-rom connected to the port of the motherboard. Now to me, the hard
drive should be master and the cd-rom slave, so I make the changes, and
on bootup I get the flashing question mark. Making the hard drive slave
and hard drive master only lets me boot of the OS 9 cd.

So I'm not sure what configuration I need to work with. I've removed the
card and replugged the hard drive back onto the motherboard ide and
everythings back to normal (wouldn't be typing this otherwise).

Anybody got an ideas on where I'm going wrong?

Many thanks in advance,

Niall
