I accept many people have been running osx trouble free for months. That was
my situation and i was very happy. But it has now suddenly gone wrong, once
on each mac. One required a total HD wipe. The other is still off net
because the network settings pane is somehow corrupted.

My point is that when osx goes wrong it is a big deal. Looking for typically
apple simple solutions i browsed the boards at macaddict and apple. The
depth and complexity of solutions, nearly all requiring boot into single
user followed by difficult to type accurately long chains of unix commands
was depressing. I was hoping for a 'trash the preference file' type
solution, but no. X for me is a fragile bird, it flies beautifully when its
flying, but once it crashes its a bloody mess

I hate to sound like cassandra, but just u wait til it happens to you.Its a
real eye opener
