Often a reinstall of the OS (please make sure to do it with the latest installer disk) will fix problems with OSX. Since the installer only replaces changed or corrupt files it's one of the best ways to get a system going again. I'm running OSX Client on three different machines (Quicksilver, G4 iMac and iBook 500) as well as OSX Server on a Grape Rev.D iMac. I haven't had problems with any of them that a simple reinstall of the OS didn't fix and have only had to resort to that once. Booting from the command line in single user mode and running FSCK every couple weeks can solve a lot of problems. OSX may look like the Mac OS but the heart of it is unix. Read up on some BSD unix maintenance procedures. You'll be surprised at how many of them now apply to Mac OSX. -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
