<< i'm running mac os 9.2.2 i have tried 10 but don't like it - maybe when jaguar is released
thanks Al >> I seriously doubt that your machine could handle OS X if you have a G3 clocked at 333 Mhz and a 66 Mhz bus speed. My dual processor G4 is clocked at 450 Mhz with a 100 Mhz system bus and it runs OS 10.1.5 very well, but I attribute that to the dual processors and the fact that Velocity Engine is being utlized very frequently in OS X, while G3 chips have no velocity engine and don't play well with other chips... I constantly use the processor gauge in the dock to see how much work each processor is doing, and let me say, both chips get maxed out when running iTunes with visualizer, or iTunes and AOL, or just running games or multiple apps at once. I only have 256 RAM, I agree thats weak, and I am planning an upgrade, a big one, a new graphics card, and 2X 256 SDRAM chips to use all four memory slots and bring computer memory to 784 MB... and for graphics I am going to buy the ATI Radeon 8500 Mac Edition if there is such a thing... if not I'll go with ATI Radeon 7000 Mac Edition... at least it meets the needs for Quartz Extreme in Jaguar and slams my current Rage Pro 128 card. If you plan on using OS X in the future... I think you might be better off to look into purchasing a G4... lots of good deals on old ones... maybe a dp 533 would suit your needs better. peace jc -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
