My last bout with Linux was with Yellow Dog 2.2, and then I installed
Mandrake 8.2, both on my PowerBook. This spanned Spring 2002 through the
end of June, I'd say. I still belong to the YDL mailing lists, in fact.

Ryan, I understand you do internet hosting? That's definitely one of
Linux's documented strenghts.

Did you try it as a desktop PC? Just look at the number of USB printers
supported. I dug out my old Epson 740, because that's what I had of the
few supported, and although I could get it to print, I had to work at
it. Installing Ximian Gnome on YDL made my CD directory go "poof."
Again, I got it back: a multiday challenge with a reward, and that's
where I discovered the joys of fstab. Unplugging Mandrake from my
ethernet router resulted in my having to rerun the Network DrakConfig
utility all over again. Dependencies? I've got to stop, because I'm
breaking out into a cold sweat.

I'm glad it works without a hitch for you, though.
