actually, the files are probably where they should be and it probably
knows it, it's part of microsoft's aggressively inconvenient copy
protection. one life saving tip with windows from floppies, before you
install any program (and generally a good idea any way) make sure the
write protect tab is set to prevent writing. microsoft actually
deliberately trashes the second install disk on much of their software
during install, so you have to call with all of your information for a
"free" replacement disk, when they finally get around to it. i've seen
this several times, the last time my friend wasn't at all happy that she
couldn't get into her mailing lists for here business for over a month!
and all because of a stupid human trick on the part of microsoft, of
course any experienced pirate or user automatically locks software
floppies before getting them near a drive, just for safety, with
microsoft it's essential. just another reason i'm not at all happy that
microsoft "saved" apple.

Ernest Hemingway once said "The world is a fine place, and worth
fighting for", i agree with the second part (from the movie s7ven, and
my own sentiments). Philip Stortz, Mad Scientist At Large, available to
save worlds large or small, or at least to try, to fight the good fight.
