Hi, guys sorry for the OT but I am almost crazy and desperate over here. I just got a couple of Airport cards, one for my Sawtooth and one for the TiBook. Installation was OK and both machines run OS 9.2.2 with Airport 2.0.4. This is where the problems start:
1) Enabling file sharing so that I can use TCP/IP for that reason results in Airport connection via AppleShare only and I cannot detect my machines in the Local Network (within the Network Browser). Not only that, but if I attempt to log in via AppleShare thru the Network Browser, the app locks up. I am willing to let this glitsh go since I can go to the Chooser and connect to either machine fine. However, any ideas on that would be appreciated... 2) This problem has got me frustrated: my Sawtooth in connected to the internet via Ethernet (PPPoE) with Verizon DSL. For this AppleTalk and TCP/IP have to set to "Ethernet Built-in". This is fine so far. I have used the Airport Setup Assistant to create a network so that the Sawtooth in the software base station. Now the problems start: as soon as I start the software base station, I lose my internet connection. Only a restart brings it back and I could get it back by doing the TCP/IP inactivation - re-activation trick. The TiBook is configured via the Airport Assistant to be used as a client to join an existing Airport network and gets its IP address via DHCP. My question is this: what do I need to do to have both the DSL conenction live AND have a software base station going? It is interesting to note that when I attempt to start the software station, I get a message saying that any network connections will be interrupted, and I have definitely witnessed that! I am so frustrated by this because I know very little about networking and because I cannot find any info on the net. I'd appreciate any input on any of these two problems. Thanks and apologies for the OT. You can contact me off-list if you wish. paris __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
