Hi Bob, the same argument can be used to talk about film, even 
negatives can be manipulated to present the image that the 
photografer wants you to see.

All is in the eye of the beholder.
When daguerrotypes came into existance, the art world went up in arms 
and some people thought that painting was at the edge of extincion.
Film will continue to be used by those who don't want to "mess" with 
new technologies.
Now the question is : For how long? That will also depend on 
economics, if people stops buying film, it will be only available to 
those who really want to work with it and pay some extra price for it.
