Hello: Have a problem with a B/W g3 tower. It will not boot to any version of OS 9.x. We get a normal happy mac and the OS 9 progress bar. Then we get a pin wheel for about 2 - 3 minutes. After which the pin wheel turns into a bomb. Up until yesterday it was working correctly. It will boot off of the original CD-ROM ( OS 8.5.1 ) and off of an 8.6 CD-ROM. The Apple MacTestPro CD for Power Macintosh G3 and iMac reports a clean bill of health. It will also boot off of the OS X 10.2 install CD. We have tried changing the RAM, the video card, the processor, the Hard drive. All with known good parts - to no avail.
Also we have reset the P-RAM, rebuilt the desktop via the keyboard, and reset the nvram Nada full rest via open firmware command line.Is possible that we have corrupted firmware? Sounds bizarre but... Thanx for any input . --Guy M -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
