ATA(PI) ... IDE ... EIDE ... UATA ... all "alphabet soup" for a family of
specifications for devices, mainly hard drives, all of which are intended to
be downward compatible.

Most hard drives being manufactured today are either UATA/100 or UATA/133,
and all of these will operate with most EIDE, UATA/33, UATA/66, UATA/100 or
UATA/133 hosts or cards.

For example: your Beige G3 provides two EIDE (16.67 MB/sec) buses, but one
can connect four devices to those two buses: two EIDE or UATA/33 or UATA/66
or UATA/100 or UATA/133 hard drives, and one ATAPI CD-ROM and one EIDE Zip,
all simultaneously. Or four hard drives. Or three hard drives and one CD-ROM.
Or anything in between.
