going commit to a read-only media.

Essentially, a read-only RAM disk is prepared, and then the app is tested 
from that disk.

Off hand, I'd guess that the Diskwarrior app is trying to find its prefs, 
can't, and then tries to create new prefs on the unwriteable media.

Check your bootable Diskwarrior CD. I'll bet there are Diskwarrior prefs 
pre-loaded on that CD.
