Dear Colleagues, Having come up against System X and its intolerance for prior software, the effect was traumatic because our favorite Brother printer, whose software was developed for System 9, performed sporadically and mostly not at all. We will probably partition the drive of our new iMac to run 9 and X separately. The 9 kernel in X is not dependable.
Frankly, there is no reason for this severing of the continuity of software. I think that during the next year Steve Jobs will reconsider the market disadvantages of X and reform it to reflect Mac users need for the uncompromised operation of System 9 applications.
