Len Sacchetti10/6/02 8:40 [EMAIL PROTECTED] It
happens sometimes if a plug gets pulled out from the side accidentally. The
sideways pressure can cause the solder joints on that outlet socket to
either break or loosen up. Does it crackle or the sound get any better when
you turn the plug around inside the outlet?
They told me the only way to repair it was to replace the motherboard as it
can't be resoldered. The other option was to go to a speaker that was a USB
plug in, so I bought a set of Harmon Kardon iSticks, plugged them into the
USB port, and haven't had the problem since. If your speaker is not a USB
type speaker, you might see if anyone else there has one and plug it in and
see if the noise is still there. If not, then the problem is probably
located in the single prong plug outlet.
