This is probably an extremely stupid question, but if I stick a new CDRW in my beige, and the startup hangs both with the extensions on (I'm using Toast CD reader as the driver) and off (it hangs when the finder begins to start up), then there isn't a single chance I can ever get it to work in my beige, right? The drive in question is one of the faster (40X12X48X) BenQ (Acer) burners. And yes, I checked the xlr8yourmac.com database, but there are no reports for BenQ drives of this speed (fastest drive for which a report was available was 32X). Guess this must the reason why no reports were listed.... On a related note, I am now stuck with a peecee burner of no use to me. I just want to cut my losses and let the drive go cheap. Email me offlist if interested.
