Some B&W G3s were delivered with UW2 SCSI HDs, notably the so-called
WGS which is what John apparently has and so do I.
That said, the IBM (in my case two 9gb U2 drives) are both loud and
hot. I eventually removed both, installing a 40gb IDE instead.

I would use the IDE as boot drive for 10. The 2940 card is very finicky
under 10. I say this from experience, and is a big reason why I threw
out the IBMs.
But, yes, 10 runs fine on your machine. Thro out the 9gb and get
inexpenxive IDE as slave to the one you have. If you need external
SCSI, get the cheap 2906 card which works fine under 10.
