Hi Kurt, I was going to advice you to buy a crossovercable, but after re-reading your message I noticed that the laptop is already connected via Ethernet meaning a crossovercable can't do. The best you can do is buying an Ethernet hub and connect the Ethernet cable for internet use (probably via an ADSL Ethernet modem) to that hub (usually the uplink port, see documentation ADSL modem) and from the hub two normal aka patch Ethernet cables, one to the Mac with OS 9 (this Mac has to have Ethernet), and one to the Mac with OS X. After you enable sharing on the Mac with OS 9 the Mac with OS X can see that Mac then, and connect to it. If you have more than one IP address, the Mac with OS 9 can then also get on the internet via Ethernet, otherwise not. (You need a router to do that otherwise, but that is another story). In short: get an Ethernet hub, for example one with 4 ports and an uplink port for the internet Ethernet cable, and two Ethernet patch cables. You can even go further: OS 9 has a control panel which allows you to enable 'USB printer sharing' which means that it enables you to print from another Mac (in this case your laptop with OS X) to the printer connected to the Mac with OS 9 (don't know which OS 9 version has this, but I do know that OS 9.2 has USB Printer Sharing). Also don't know if OS X sees USB printers shared in OS 9, I just tested this between Macs with both OS 9.x. Anyone any info on this? (BTW I heard that sharing USB printers in OS X 10.1.x wasn't possible, has this changed in OS X 10.2.x?)
