Do either of you have Rev.1 G3 B&Ws? If you don't know check on <http://www.xlr8yourmac.com> on there G3 pages. In there there is a guide to telling of you have a Rev.2 B&W G3. If the IDE controller does not mach the desription then you do and that will mostly explain the problem. A number of people have said that OS X solves the problem with Slave corruption on the Rev.1 B&W G3s but since it is a hardware bug I an not inclined to fully trust those findings. I have on the other hand noticed that my G3 (definitely a Rev.2) is quite flaky at times in 10.2.1, especially regarding browsers or USB hot-plugging. The stupid thing 'lost' my keyboard after I unplugged it and replugged it. I had to reboot. Never had that happen in 10.1.x.
