They are Apple OEM cards pulled from servers. Does anyone know if they have
the "crippled" firmware and if they too can be flashed back to the full ATTO
version?

If so, do you have a link to download the firmware? Once flashed, would the
dual channels (internal and external) work properly?

Those UL2D LVD cards are indeed Apple-OEMed cards, but in this case the
firmware is not "crippled", it's the same as in a non-OEMed UL2D LVD card ...
just a little bit downlevel.

However, the connector options on the Apple-OEMed card are: Channel 1 -
internal only; Channel 2 - external only.

The non-OEM card has internal and external connectors on both channels.

As for firmware, just go to attotech.com and download their "latest and
greatest".

You will note that as there are actually two discrete channels (adapters,
really) on the UL2D LVD card, there is also a "PCI Bridge" present, and that
this bridge prevents ASP from seeing the card properly. The ATTO firmware
installer doesn't have a problem with this, and neither does the Mac's boot
ROM. All ASP can see is the PCI bridge; it cannot see the adapters on the
other side of the bridge.

Should you discover a source of the proprietary ultra-high density cables and
or connectors, as used (and required) for the external connections, please
post this information.

I'm probably going to modify my UL2D LVD cards to include a fully functional
second internal 68-pin connector. Otherwise the UL2D LVD card is just an
overblown single channel card.

Great card, BTW, as are all ATTO cards.
