Hi, I had a similar problem, I installed the modem in my computer and it
only worked at 33600. I have two G3 beige each of them with internal modem
and now they both work perfectly.
I think you are missing some extensions but don't ask me how they are
called. They are installed form the apple MacOS installer when you install
the option called something like "G3 internal modem"
