Greetings, My configuration is G3 333 9.1 9GB 256MB RAM (186.6 free with AOL, IE & Netscape on right now) so it is plenty for what I use the machine, Photoshop may take no more than 100MB I think. Question is why is the VM ON as a default? Is there something I should now? I know the memory requirements for all these will increase if VM is off, yes but is that the only good thing about VM?
The thing is, with all the bad reputation is has gotten over the years I am not very fond of it. But that was back in the days. Nowadays is it really necessary? Since I know that in Windows PCs it is NOT adviced/recommended to turn it off no matter how much RAM you have. I always thought VM only made the mac slower and kept the drive in use (even when you don't need it and draws power when you're using a powerbook) not only that, it stores invisible files in the drive, such arrangement to me is not to my liking can someone clear this up?
