Hello list, The G3 is having some strange problems. I have been using older versions of applications on the G#, as it only had 32 MB of memory. I recienty installed 768 MB of memory. Now all applications and the OS take 2 to 3 times as much memory as before. Odd, but its running.
I was having problems with Explorer 4, and decided to use Netscape 4. I was disapointed to find that it does not have a 'History', but it seemed faster. It has developed a strange problem. The pointer is active 100% of the time with Netscape. You have to make sure that the web page does not fill the screen, because Netscape will attempt to access every link that it sees. The mouse is new, and works fine on other applications. To select something, you just push the button on the mouse. My guess is that Netscape has acquired a new personality. I could reload it, but why is it necessary to reinstall something, everytime you want to use it? Should it (could it ?) be installed on a CD-ROM and run from there? This buying and installing applications every week to continually upgrade, and to counter-attack the problem of Product A, version 10 vs. Product Z, version 37, is a real pain. And from all of the emails I have seen in the past 2 weeks, installing OS versions 9, X, and above isn't a good thing either. I'm open to suggestion. In the meantime, I'm going to have a cold beer. That's dependable. David Blish -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
