I have this exact same situation. Weird. Sometimes items are trashed right away sometimes not. And sometimes I get a message with some -8026 or something like that error code that says the trash cannot be emptied at all. I called Apple Care & they basically said (after 45+ min.) that they had no idea what that meant. Direct quote: "OS X spits out so many error codes they have no idea what all of them mean" I am running Jaguar on a Pismo 500 G3 with 768 ram. I searched the KB with no success. I'd be interested if anyone else has seen the above mentioned error code.
